It's the Final Countdown - Days 59 and 60

All is going well.  Phoenix has been vaccinated, has had his flea medication, and had a bit of dry food recently.  Overall, he seems to be doing well!  I'm a little concerned with him seemingly eating less today that would be normal, but I might be imagining it.  I haven't been weighing him as I had in the past, but I think I will over the weekend if it still seems like he's not eating quite as much.

There really isn't too much more to say.  He plays, he sleeps, he eats, and he poops.  He's still a little monster, but he brings a smile to so many faces.  It's crazy to think that 8 weeks ago I was waking up multiple times a night hoping that he would wake up and move and be alright.  And now I have so many moments where I wish he would go back to bed to let me finish my work 😂.

We are coming close to the end of my blog.  I'll do one post this weekend and a final one at our 9 week mark on Monday.  And then we'll officially be done with our 9 week adventure.  If there are any questions you may want me to mention before then, leave it in a comment!

With all that said, today will just be a photo and video dump!

Photos and Videos

In my lap while writing the blog

Caught the yawn!

While Asher was sleeping on him.

Both in my lap.  I feel like this could be the cover of some kind of detective and sidekick movie.

Asher decided he wanted to be in my lap... though it did take some deliberation and some sulking.  Check out the two videos that I caught before this below.

Asher goes to sulk at the end for around 5-10 minutes by sitting with his back to us.

He eventually came around (this would happen even before Phoenix), and then came and sat on top of him.  Don't worry, Phoenix was purring up a storm after that.

Can never get enough of this face.  Video of him falling asleep below:

I was trying to sneak out of the room after work without him fully waking up.  I snuck out right after snapping the picture above.

Close up of his face!  Dark orange around nose is completely gone.  I'll never know what it was...

Peek-a-boo!

I've put this pillow pet on the floor in the mornings recently.  Phoenix has been sleeping on it fairly often.

Just snapped this photo.  He's in may lap.

He loves this toy.  I call it the "chitter toy" because when it arrived, the toy label said, "I chitter".  He plays with it often!

He's recently started carrying his chitter toy to go attack it elsewhere.  I finally caught one on video.  This is one of my favorite things he does.

Pants?  What pants?  I'm not playing with pants!

I was hoping Asher would teach him a lesson... I figure Asher is a better discipliner than we are... clearly that failed.

Walking backwards and video recording makes for a horrible video.

Just woke up from a nap!  More or less just staring for a while.

Growing Up - Day 17

17 days, 7.65oz, 6 feedings, 2 butt baths, 1 dose Ponazuril, 0 vet visits.  A nice count down to summarize my day.  Phoenix has been doing well.  He continues to have blood come out after going to the bathroom, poor guy.  You can tell he's in pain when it's happening.  Let's hope that some more time with the medication will help improve this.  His poop today already seemed better than before (less accidents), so that's hopefully a good sign. Approaching a Milestone I'm always excited when Phoenix hits some kind of milestone.  It's a way to make me feel more comfortable about his state.  I always worry that maybe something is wrong (especially internally), so seeing this normal progress really helps. I've referenced the kitten lady before - here's a nice page from her site about determining age (but also kind of demonstrates some milestones).  Check it out; http://www.kittenlady.org/age, but I've also included a picture from her site belo...

Upgrades - Day 20

Day 20 and Phoenix is still going strong.  He's been gaining weight like a monster (hit 250g today), and I think the poop storm is starting to slow down.  Eyes are wide open, energy levels are high, and fluffy factor is continually increasing. Upgrades Phoenix got a home upgrade today.  I had purchased a collapsible pen that arrived a few days ago.  This morning, the little guy was complaining even after eating a bunch of food.  So I decided to go ahead and upgrade from a container to this new pen. I regret not getting one size bigger.  I'll need to think about a litter box soon, and it would have fit a lot bigger if I upped the size.  We'll see what happens.  I also haven't figured out what I'll do at night.  He usually sleeps next to me, but maybe it's time to leave him in one spot and keep him out of the bedroom?  I just worry I won't be able to hear him crying if something goes wrong. All in all, I'm generally happy with this new pen...

Kitten Concerns - Days 45 and 46

Phoenix is as energetic as ever.  He runs and jumps and falls.  He eventually sleeps.  Then wakes up to go through it all again.  Overall he's doing alright, but our poop problems have returned. Kitten Concerns Phoenix has been able to poop on his own for a while now.  The poops have largely been formed, so things have been on the upside.  Unfortunately yesterday afternoon, he had a pretty loose stool.  And then shortly after, it was pretty much only liquid coming out for the poor guy. I gave him his dewormer yesterday.  There was a lot more to feed him, but I got most of it in him.  I got some of it on my pants... but the majority of it successfully went into his mouth.  He did fight it for the most part, but we got it down!  It was the next poop after that that came out as liquid. We've also recently introduced some moistened dry food for him.  So this new food could explain the change in his poop.  I'll continue to moni...
