He Just Keeps Going and Going and Going - Days 52 and 53

All is well.  Phoenix has insane amounts of energy.  He also spends a good amount of time sleeping and napping.  But when he's up, it's go, go, go time.  He sometimes will distract himself for a good amount of time, but other times he wants to follow you everywhere you go.  He's currently playing around Nguyen by running around Nguyen while he sits in his chair.

There isn't much new going on, to be honest.  In terms of general health related stuff:
  1. His poops have gone back to being formed and healthy looking.
  2. I'm continuing his 2x/day dose of metronidazole.
  3. He'll go in to see if he can get vaccines on Monday.
  4. Asher got his dose of flea meds to help there.
  5. My new flea combs have arrived.  Neither of them have turned up any fleas.  Yay.
  6. Nguyen is still sick.  Has been for like 3 weeks.  Not COVID though :)
So all in all, lots to be thankful for.

I'll go ahead and just do a photo and video dump.  There's a few good ones :)

Photos

The orange on his nose has definitely moved.  It's now kind of separated into the two spots.  Was it actually a dirty nose?  Did the orange fur disperse?  I have no idea.  I do think it shows how much his nose is stretching out though.

Hah.

Playing on boxes.

They've been sleeping nearby each other on this couch a lot recently.  They still aren't best of friends.  Asher will come up on the couch to sleep - but he'll still hiss from time to time.  So it seems he has mixed feelings.  It's overall improving though.  You'll see some playtime videos later.

Sleeping on my leg/foot.

I wish I had a video of what happened right before this.  The story goes something like this.  Phoenix is sleeping next to me on the couch.  Asher jumps up on couch and decides that he wants to sleep next to me, too.  So he sits on Phoenix and then lies down.  I mean, literally sits on him.  Phoenix starts crying a bit and pulls himself out from under Asher.  And then makes his way to where you see him in the photo.  After that, every time Phoenix moved a bit, Asher would just hiss 😂.  I mean, buddy, you went and SAT on him... and then you're upset that he moved his paw?

One of many sleepy time moments in my lap.

Hanging out with me while I worked on paperwork.  Shortly after this, he grabbed one of the post-it notes and pulled it off.  Don't tell Nguyen, I don't know what page it came from.  They were his notes.

Play time!

Play time continued!

This was a video after Asher came and sat on Phoenix :)

By far one of my favorites.  It makes me laugh every time I see it.  I tried not to laugh while taking the video, and I couldn't stop myself.

Growing Up - Day 17

17 days, 7.65oz, 6 feedings, 2 butt baths, 1 dose Ponazuril, 0 vet visits.  A nice count down to summarize my day.  Phoenix has been doing well.  He continues to have blood come out after going to the bathroom, poor guy.  You can tell he's in pain when it's happening.  Let's hope that some more time with the medication will help improve this.  His poop today already seemed better than before (less accidents), so that's hopefully a good sign. Approaching a Milestone I'm always excited when Phoenix hits some kind of milestone.  It's a way to make me feel more comfortable about his state.  I always worry that maybe something is wrong (especially internally), so seeing this normal progress really helps. I've referenced the kitten lady before - here's a nice page from her site about determining age (but also kind of demonstrates some milestones).  Check it out; http://www.kittenlady.org/age, but I've also included a picture from her site belo...

Upgrades - Day 20

Day 20 and Phoenix is still going strong.  He's been gaining weight like a monster (hit 250g today), and I think the poop storm is starting to slow down.  Eyes are wide open, energy levels are high, and fluffy factor is continually increasing. Upgrades Phoenix got a home upgrade today.  I had purchased a collapsible pen that arrived a few days ago.  This morning, the little guy was complaining even after eating a bunch of food.  So I decided to go ahead and upgrade from a container to this new pen. I regret not getting one size bigger.  I'll need to think about a litter box soon, and it would have fit a lot bigger if I upped the size.  We'll see what happens.  I also haven't figured out what I'll do at night.  He usually sleeps next to me, but maybe it's time to leave him in one spot and keep him out of the bedroom?  I just worry I won't be able to hear him crying if something goes wrong. All in all, I'm generally happy with this new pen...

Kitten Concerns - Days 45 and 46

Phoenix is as energetic as ever.  He runs and jumps and falls.  He eventually sleeps.  Then wakes up to go through it all again.  Overall he's doing alright, but our poop problems have returned. Kitten Concerns Phoenix has been able to poop on his own for a while now.  The poops have largely been formed, so things have been on the upside.  Unfortunately yesterday afternoon, he had a pretty loose stool.  And then shortly after, it was pretty much only liquid coming out for the poor guy. I gave him his dewormer yesterday.  There was a lot more to feed him, but I got most of it in him.  I got some of it on my pants... but the majority of it successfully went into his mouth.  He did fight it for the most part, but we got it down!  It was the next poop after that that came out as liquid. We've also recently introduced some moistened dry food for him.  So this new food could explain the change in his poop.  I'll continue to moni...
